Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.

It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us - that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion - that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain - that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom - and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.

1. What do you notice about the length of the speech?
The speech is very short but is very effective the way it is presented. In the last paragraph the first sentence is ''we cannot dedicate - we cannot consecrate - we cannot hallow - this ground. The constant use of the word we and the rhyming of dedicate and consecrate makes the speech more effective and techniques like this have been used throughout the speech.

They are short and the start and then it gets bigger when he remind's them of the civil war and how their father made the nation.

That the dead have not died in vain.

As he has said the dead has not died in vain which tells us they died for their country and for what they loved doing - serving their country. It also states that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth. This means they will be remembered and never forgotten.
